Interventional radiology can contain endoscopic surgery, endovascular surgery and
percutaneous intervention all performed under X-ray or ultrasound
guidance.
Common to all these is the use of point-surgical approaches,
or orifices of the human body and the use of various imaging techniques
that allow the surgeon to operate at a considerable distance from the
administration tools.
The use of miniaturized instruments and high
technology, are also hallmarks of this progressive trend in modern
medicine.
