Postgraduate Training of Radiation Oncology

Postgraduate training of radiation oncology specialists, unfortunately, comes down to training, at best, once every five years at one of the two departments of institutions of postgraduate education and this is becoming less affordable for professionals. In view of the socio-economic reasons, it becomes less accessible and the training of doctors in the workplace in large central hospitals. Until recently, the “incentives” in the form of reduced pensions, shorter working day, a long vacation created the conditions for the inflow into the ranks of radiation oncologists losers from other related specialties.

This is due to the increasing role and prestige of the profession, the opportunity to work on modern hardware, but this trend is only observed in some large radiology centers. Important is this form of training, the work in the scientific community (association), but here the situation is not the most favorable for radiation oncologists: the regional associations of oncologists, usually dominated by the number of surgical oncologists, radiation in the associations diagnosticians and radiation therapists overwhelming numerical superiority on the side of radiologists, diagnosticians.
